Associate Professor Technologist (Ts) Dr. Che Nor Aiza Jaafar gained her Master degree in Metallic and Ceramic Materials at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom in 2000. She obtained her PhD in Metallurgy from University Science Malaysia (USM) in 2011. She has been as research officer at Malaysian Nuclear Agency in Industry Technology Division for two years from 1996 to 1998. Currently, she is an associate professor at Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), majoring in Engineering Materials.
Most of her research focuses on metallurgy, ceramic, composites, bio materials and powder metallurgy. So far she has published about 55 journals papers and 10 book chapters on materials engineering. Currently, she is guiding two PhD and three master students. She has won gold, silver, bronze awards on several poster and micrograph competitions in Scientific Conference Microscopy Society of Malaysia, Final Year Project Exhibition (UPM) and has won gold and best award (as team member) in several exhibition and competition such as PECIPTA 2015, International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2014) and Malaysia Innovative Product Award (ITEX 2015).
She is an active member in professional societies such as EXCO committee of Microscopy Society of Malaysia for 8 years from 2014-2022 and as auditor in Bio Material Malaysian Society in 2021. Additionally, she is also Editor in Malaysian Journal of Microscopy in 2020 and this year 2021 she has appointed as Chief Editor of Malaysian Journal of Microscopy (SCOPUS indexed). She is appointed as Co-Chairman for 29thScientific Conference Microscopy Society of Malaysia (29thSCMSM2021) which will be held in Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) on 20-21thDecember 2021.
