Manel del Valle received his degree in Chemistry from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), and his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry (1992) from the same university. Currently he is full professor of Analytical Chemistry at UAB. He has acted recently as head of Chemistry Studies at this university.
He is a founding and active member of the Sensors & Biosensors Group at the UAB, where he is leader of research lines of sensor arrays and electronic tongues, as well as the use of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy for biosensing. In the past, he was awarded with the Distinction of the Generalitat de Catalunya for the Promotion of University Research, and currently he holds an ICREA Academia grant. He has authored more than 200 research papers in the field of electrochemical sensors and supervised 21 PhD theses. His h index is 40. Recently, the track of research reached the topic of convergence of tecnologies within analytical chemistry: nanotechnology, biotechnology, information science and cogno system with the incorporation of nanocomponents to the development of biosensor array systems or bioelectronic tongues.
